the Hyatt Regency, where we were supposed to stay at Origins this month, called last night to say that they had to “bump” us to another hotel. Nevermind that we made the reservations back in FEBRUARY to avoid this type of stuff.
first they offered another hotel about seven blocks away, with a shuttle service. The Wookie was having none of that, so they offered the Red Roof Inn across the street. He’s still fuming.
I just called today and confirmed that we DO have rooms there – although we get to check out on Friday and then back in a minute later and change rooms, of course. And we have to pay ten bucks for parking per day, something I thought came free with the Hyatt – but they’re supposedly picking up the price difference (if any) between the two rooms, so we might either break even or be in debt. Nevermind that it’s “limited” parking, so we’ll have to race in there Thursday and hope we get a spot for the con.
just fired off a long angry note to Hyatt via their website telling them that we won’t ever be using that chain again since the fact that we made these reservations MONTHS in advance obviously means nothing to them. Supposedly we got bumped due to being logged in mistakedly as Origins “staff”, but that’s not our problem.
the Wookie’s pissed at the con staff of course, but I focused his anger back on the hotel – it’s not the staff’s problem if the hotel screws up the reservations – but this is stupid.
still working out the anger. And the Wook had to go in for six this morning and stay until six tonight, so I got up with him at four and already had a nap to get coherent again.
