okay, let me point out a few things – I do like the United States and I do appreciate that having an election isn’t something you can toss together like a church potluck every third Sunday of the month.
but folks… isn’t there something wrong with a system where you spend almost an entire year campaigning out of the four that your candidate gets to actually be in charge?
I mean, we have only a few months campaign time in Canada – sure, it’s not the same size as the US, but we get it over and done quickly – you make up your mind and get on with the vote. I know it’s important to have the debates and all, but does anyone REALLY think that anyone’s going to change their mind based on these three television shows? Really? If you’re going with Bush, you’ll suddenly go Kerry after last night? Or vice versa? Or if you’re undecided you’ll go with the talking head show for a total of four and a half hours in total to decide?
Go, research the issues and choose a position – but for the love of all that’s holy, can it possibly take LESS than a year next time? Really? Maybe?
’cause I’m running out of things to try and watch to get away from the political commercials, the analysis, the polls, the sound bites…
